Rachel Parlier from Houchin Community Blood Bank (HCBB) joins the TehachaPod crew in studio and talks about donating blood, plasma and platelets. She explains why its important to donate on a regular basis, we talk about the needs of cancer patients and how they need our help to fight the disease. A local 17 year old Bakersfield Liberty High School student Tatum De Montmorency (#TeamTatum) is in the middle of a fight with leukemia a blood/bone marrow cancer. Tatum has received blood and platelets from Houchin during her journey. The City of Tehachapi partners with HCBB and the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District every two months on a mobile blood drive.
